Texas is one of more than two dozen states with proposed legislation to protect female athletes from transgender competition as the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) threatens to remove sporting events from states if these bills become law. As Breitbart News reported , the NCAA Board of Governors issued a statement on Monday reiterating its support for transgender athletes and warning against passing any “discriminatory” laws against athletes who want to compete in sports according to their “gender identity.” “When determining where championships are held, NCAA policy directs that only locations where hosts can commit to providing an environment that is safe, healthy, and free of discrimination should be selected,” a statement issued on Monday said. “We will continue to closely monitor these situations to determine whether NCAA championships can be conducted in ways that are welcoming and respectful of all participants.” The Houston Chronicle reported on the … [Read more...] about Texas Prepares to Debate Transgender Bill as NCAA Threatens to Pull Tournaments

FNC’s Carlson: ADL, ‘Little Gatekeepers on Twitter’ Will Fail to Have This Show Pulled Off the Air
Monday, Fox News host Tucker Carlson responded to criticism from the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) after the organization called for his firing over remarks Carlson made about “replacement” and the types of immigration policy supported by the modern Democratic Party. The FNC host noted the reactions his remarks also inspired from the “little gatekeepers on Twitter,” which he said turned out to be true in this case. However, as Carlson pointed out, the ADL also made a similar argument regarding Israel and the population growth of Palestine. Transcript as follows: CARLSON: Last week, we said something on television that the usual chorus of hyper aggressive liars is now pretending was somehow highly controversial. Ordinarily, we’d ignore all of this. Once you’ve been denounced as a white supremacist for quoting Martin Luther King, you realize none of it is real. It’s all another form of social control. Honestly, who cares what they think? But in this one case, we thought … [Read more...] about FNC’s Carlson: ADL, ‘Little Gatekeepers on Twitter’ Will Fail to Have This Show Pulled Off the Air
NHL Mock Draft: Who gets selected after Alexis Lafrenière?
By Ryan Wagman, McKeen’s Hockey lead prospect writer After months of waiting, the NHL Draft is suddenly, almost surprisingly, upon us. Round 1 will take place Tuesday at 7 p.m. ET on NBCSN ( livestream ) and Rounds 2-7 be Wednesday beginning at 11:30 a.m. ET on NHL Network. With so much about 2019-20 that didn’t go according to plan (but some that did – congratulations to the Stanley Cup Champion Tampa Bay Lightning!) and so much still unknown about what we can expect out of a 2020-21 season, a draft now seems somewhat anticlimactic. But outside of the fact that hundreds of players and their families – not to mention your humble analyst – will not be gathered in one cavernous hockey arena to experience the event together, there is still a lot to be excited about as we seek to put this traumatizing year behind us and look to a brighter future. I think that is something that fans of all 31 teams can get behind. The contents of this final mock NHL draft are based on the … [Read more...] about NHL Mock Draft: Who gets selected after Alexis Lafrenière?

The positive response to the Snyder Cut and the ongoing discussions on how Warner Bros. didn't go through with this vision has led to a major internal conflict at the studio. Ray Fisher has publicly accused Joss Whedon, who oversaw Justice League reshoots, of abusive and unprofessional conduct towards the cast. Ray has further accused DC Films executives Geoff Johns and Jon Berg of not taking Whedon's action under scrutiny. The opinions expressed in this commentary are solely those of the author. View more opinion at CNN. (CNN) The widespread yet varying attention drawn by Ken Burns and Lynn Novick's "Hemingway" documentary series -- which ran its course on PBS last week -- proves, if nothing else, that its subject still lingers in the world's collective consciousness almost a century after his first books were first published. Gene Seymour While Ernest Hemingway may no longer dominate the literary scene as he had by the middle of the 20th century, the mystique of his public and private lives resonates into the 21st. The most mysterious question to me is: Why do we still care about him? If one had to name American writers from the previous century with … [Read more...] about Why do we still care about Ernest Hemingway?
