Top-seeded Madison Prep never could shake free of Westlake in the first half. The 16th-seeded Rams even held a one-point lead with 1:35 remaining. But there was no question about which team controlled the game after that. The Chargers outscored Westlake 38-10 in the second half to claim a 60-30 victory in a Class 3A regional-round playoff game played at Madison Prep on Tuesday night. “I think we did what we were supposed to do,” MPA’s Kaylan Jack said. “When we are aggressive and work together as a team, all things are going to fall in place for us.” Jack scored a game-high 10 points to pace the balanced Chargers (17-2), who advance to host No. 9 Loranger in the quarterfinals. Three Chargers — Allasia Washington, Jaylan Oliver and Aynessia Bell — all finished with eight points. Destiny Peltier also had eight to lead Westlake (12-9). “We played hard, and I think we missed some easy buckets in the second half that could have helped us close that gap,” Westlake coach Gloria … [Read more...] about Second-half surge powers balanced top-seeded Madison Prep past Westlake 60-30 in Class 3A playoffs

India an achiever in solar power growth among 80 member countries: ISA
New Delhi: The International Solar Alliance ( ISA ) has ranked India as an "Achiever" among its 80 member countries along with Brazil, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in its latest Ease of Doing Solar (EoDS) report. Achiever countries are those with most favourable technical and commercial conditions for solar and perceived as most attractive for investments in solar. The report groups the countries in four segments -- Achiever, Influencer, Progressive and Potential. "Owing to strong potential, robust sustainability targets, high solar irradiation and developing power infrastructure, India has emerged as a leading performer among the ISA member countries along with Brazil, Saudi Arabia and UAE," the report said. Texas power outages: Why blackouts hit as temperatures fell
Texas' power grid was on the verge of failure after a cold snap brought record low temperatures, snow and rolling blackouts across the state. Millions of Texans were without power, and some people have questioned why a state that produces the most power in the US is unable to keep the lights on. Misinformation about the blackout has also started to spread online, falsely putting the blame on wind and solar energy. Roughly 4 million people in Texas had to deal with outages for most of the week as power generators and natural gas pipes froze, crippling the state's production capabilities. This led the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT), which manages the state's power grid, to administer rolling blackouts to avoid a grid failure. ERCOT ended the emergency conditions Friday because no more outages were required. Smarten up Get the best reviews, videos and comparisons in CNET's Smart Home and Appliances newsletter. Creating Highly Customized Post Types with Custom Meta Boxes
In the last few years, WordPress truly has evolved into a fully-fledged Content Management System, and it’s when you really unleash some of its functionality that you realize that WordPress can be used to power just about any kind of website. My eureka moment came when a client asked me to build him an order tracking system. Historically, he took orders for medical equipment from reps and did all of his paperwork manually. He would then spend all day on the phone, answering calls from reps either to place new orders or check on the status of an existing order. Well, he sought to change all of that by creating a website where he could input all of his orders, and his clients could then check their status at will, and even get email updates as the order was updated with new information. The idea was that he would then have more time to actually grow his business, instead of spending all day on the phone, doing admin work. CUSTOM POST TYPES The answer to his problem lay in the … [Read more...] about Creating Highly Customized Post Types with Custom Meta Boxes
