Getty Images Five teams have issued statements regarding an intention to boycott on-field, in-facility offseason work. At least four teams won’t be asked to do so , given the number of players on those rosters with significant workout bonuses. That leaves 23 teams that have not yet made it known whether they’ll be taking collective action against offseason workouts. One team, the Cowboys, recently had a players-only Zoom video conference to discuss the recommendation from the union that players not attend. Per a source with knowledge of the situation, it happened on Wednesday, April 14 at 5:00 p.m. CT. To date, the Cowboys have issued no statement that they’ll join in the boycott. They still could, literally at any minute. Or maybe they won’t. Really, will any team that decides not to do so issue a statement through the union? It’s highly doubtful. The situation invites curiosity, however. How many teams have held a similar call, but have decided not to proceed with a … [Read more...] about Cowboys players had a Wednesday video conference on OTA boycott

Charles Davis mocks Patrick Surtain to the Cowboys at No. 10 overall
In Charles Davis’ NFL mock draft 1.0 , the former pro defensive back has the Dallas Cowboys selecting Alabama cornerback Patrick Surtain with the No. 10 overall pick in the first round. Surtain is considered to be one of the top corners in this year’s draft and is Davis’ second defensive player of the board in his latest mock. It’s hard to not pay attention to all the chatter about Surtain possibly ending up with the Cowboys. ESPN’s Matt Miller believes he’ll be the first defensive player taken in the draft. In an appearance on ESPN Radio’s Keyshawn, JWill and Zubin Friday morning, Surtain’s father, Patrick Surtain Sr., a former NFL defensive back from 1998-2008, was asked about the Cowboys connection. He endorsed it in a big way, calling it the “perfect fit.” He sounded excited about the fact that former Atlanta Falcons head coach and Seattle Seahawks defensive coordinator Dan Quinn is now running the show on that side of the ball. "It's the Seattle old defense," … [Read more...] about Charles Davis mocks Patrick Surtain to the Cowboys at No. 10 overall
Canelo to fight Billy Joe Saunders before sell-out 60k fans at Dallas Cowboys Stadium as Eddie Hearn meets Dana White
CANELO ALVAREZ and Billy Joe Saunders are on course to sell out the full 60,000 capacity at the Dallas Cowboys Stadium. Canelo unifies his WBA and WBC belts with Saunders' WBO crown on May 8 in Texas. With no coronavirus restrictions, promoter Eddie Hearn revealed plans to pack out the place , with 60,000 tickets almost sold. Hearn told Yahoo Sports: “We got another six or seven thousand to go, and thankfully, we were allowed 80,000 for the Dallas Cowboys Stadium, so we’re going to be at full capacity." Saunders, 31, is already in America training for the fight, and visited the UFC's Performance Institute. There, himself and Hearn were pictured with UFC president Dana White, an avid boxing fan. Saunders comes into the fight having boxed just once in the last 12 months, retiring Martin Murray, 38, in a title defence. Canelo on the other hand is preparing for his third, having won the belts against Callum Smith, 30, in December, before beating Avni Yildirim, … [Read more...] about Canelo to fight Billy Joe Saunders before sell-out 60k fans at Dallas Cowboys Stadium as Eddie Hearn meets Dana White
NFLPA statements about skipping voluntary workouts now total 15 teams
Getty Images The NFL Players Association has released statements from the players on many NFL teams about skipping voluntary offseason workouts. But we still haven’t heard from most teams. Specifically, the Rams, Dolphins, Jets, Chargers, Falcons, Steelers, Raiders, Giants, Browns, Bears, Patriots, Lions, Buccaneers, Seahawks and Broncos have said they are skipping workouts, although how many players will actually stay home remains to be seen. At least some of the players on all of those teams will likely attend voluntary offseason work. We also know that the Cowboys had a players-only Zoom on Wednesday to discuss the matter and have still not released a statement. We don’t know what was decided at that team meeting, but it might be that there’s not enough support within the Cowboys’ locker room for the union’s position to justify releasing a statement. As PFT has previously reported, four teams — the Packers, Bills, Jaguars and Chiefs — will not be asked to skip workouts … [Read more...] about NFLPA statements about skipping voluntary workouts now total 15 teams
