Netflix released a trailer for its upcoming documentary Knock Down The House Monday, starring Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) and profiling women who ran for seats in the 2018 midterms in underdog campaigns. The Netflix documentary conspicuously leaves out any Republican or conservative women who won seats in 2018. The movie follows the campaigns of four left-wing Democrats running for office. In the video, Ocasio-Cortez is profiled as she runs against then-Congressman Joe Crowley in New York’s 14th district. She bemoans that Crowley will tell her she is “small,” “young,” and “inexperienced.” The socialist politician also tears up at one point, saying, “I just don’t want to let ’em down.” The documentary also follows three other women in their political efforts: Amy Vilela, Cori Bush, and Paula Jean Swearengin. Ocasio-Cortez is the only politician profiled in the documentary who actually won. Netflix, despite promoting politicians who push for higher taxes, doesn’t … [Read more...] about Netflix Debuts Trailer for Documentary Profiling Only Democrats

Former George W. Bush campaign strategist Matthew Dowd said Thursday on CNN’s “OutFront” that Republicans demonizing National Institutes of Health expert Dr. Anthony Fauci were attacking “science and data.” Discussing Republican’s demeanor while questioning Fauci at congressional hearings, Burnett said, “This is far from the first time we’ve seen Republicans try to beat up on Dr. Fauci. They love these moments. We saw it from Jim Jordan today and Rand Paul not long ago. That’s how it’s been. Why is the GOP so obsessed with going after Dr. Fauci?” Dowd said, “Well, I think this is fundamentally about the attack on science and data, and if it doesn’t agree from many of the GOP perspective as science or data or knowledge or information doesn’t agree with basically their emotional stand, they want to ignore it. And I think that’s the problem, I think, Dr. Fauci has here because Dr. Fauci is trying to take a rational approach against people who have an emotional place in this.” He … [Read more...] about Matthew Dowd: Republicans Demonizing Fauci Are Attacking ‘Science and Data’
WITH Mystic Meg-like foresight, David Cameron once predicted that political lobbying would be “the next big scandal waiting to happen”. It was 2009 and the then Tory leader hit out at the “far-too-cosy relationship between politics, government, business and money”, which he said had “tainted our politics for too long”. Now, the skies above Cameron’s shepherd’s hut in the Cotswolds are dark with the chickens coming home to roost. Instead of chillaxing with “his trotters up” — as EastEnders star Danny Dyer once memorably accused him of doing — Cameron is embroiled in the very scandal he predicted. The ex-Prime Minister stands accused of using his old contacts in government — notably the now Chancellor, Rishi Sunak — to try and get hundreds of millions in taxpayer-funded loans for a company he worked for. Mr Cameron had shares in the financial services firm Greensill Capital that he reportedly hoped could net him a £43million windfall. Accusations of Tory … [Read more...] about Will Greensill lobby scandal turn Heir to Blair into Dodgy Dave?
