Heading into the Rockies’ 12th game on Wednesday night in Los Angeles, Colorado’s pitching staff is much to blame for the team’s 3-8 start. The Rockies rank 11th of 15 teams in the National League in ERA at 4.64, with a seventh-ranked rotational ERA (3.88) and a 5.61 bullpen ERA that’s the worst in the NL. The Denver Post caught up with Rockies pitching coach Steve Foster and bullpen coach Darryl Scott to talk about the club’s arms, including positives so far. The Good News Top of rotation still capable: Through three starts, German Marquez has yet to find his groove but Foster’s confidence “hasn’t wavered in German’s ability to be an ace.” Meanwhile, Jon Gray has been solid with a 1.54 ERA in two starts, including taking a no-hitter into the seventh inning against Arizona last week. Patrick Surtain, Caleb Farley and Chrstian Barramore are rising on NFL Draft boards but there’s another defender to watch out for. According to NFL insider Ian Rapoport, Penn State’s Jayson Oweh is raising a lot of eyebrows just two weeks out. Oweh didn’t blow away scouts on the stat sheet during his final season, but his potential has NFL teams salivating. He even has an interesting pro comparison. According to Rapoport, Oweh compares favorably to Minnesota Vikings defensive lineman Danielle Hunter . “Penn St edge Jayson Oweh is a hot name among scouts now, which led to this interesting NFL comparison: #Vikings edge Danielle Hunter ,” Rapoport tweeted. “Why?
