Timaru rugby club punts for home games, turning back on Alpine Energy Stadium
A Timaru rugby club is locking horns with the South Canterbury Rugby Union over attempts to have all its senior matches played at home instead of the sport’s headquarters which has a $7 million redevelopment in the pipeline . The Old Boys’ Rugby Club (OBRC), which celebrated its centenary in 2019, wants all its senior A and B matches to be permanently played at its home ground, School Park, withpresident Ben Rawlcliffe saying they were trying to make the club more sustainable. Josh Warrington will be sporting Rob Burrow's name and number on his shorts when the Leeds featherweight returns to the boxing ring on Saturday evening. Featherweight Warrington, who vacated his IBF world title last month, takes on Mexico's Mauricio Lara at London's SSE Arena live on Sky Sports Arena and will be honouring the Leeds Rhinos great to show support for Burrow in his ongoing campaign to raise awareness for motor neurone disease. Covid-19: Waterbourne Beach Festival organiser ‘devastated’ event won’t go ahead
STUFF Stuff's Duncan Johnstone and Todd Niall take a look at how Team New Zealand and Luna Rossa are shaping up, despite Auckland's Covid-19 alert level 3, postponing the start of the America's Cup. Auckland’s latest lockdown period was another blow for New Zealand’s ‘biggest beach festival,’ one that festival organiser Laurence Carey described as “simply devastating”. Waterbourne Beach Festival officially kicked off on February 27 with a number of smaller events, but it’s opening ceremony and biggest events were due to come this weekend. A large rooftop bar and stage was being built in preparation, which had to be abandoned mid-build before being pulled down earlier this week upon news of a snap seven-day, alert-level 3 lockdown . “We have spent two years planning Waterbourne, and to have this happen days before our opening ceremony is a hard pill to swallow,” said Carey.
