SINGAPORE: Investors will be able to apply for Singapore Savings Bonds (SSB) using their Supplementary Retirement Scheme funds with effect from Feb 1, 2019, the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) said in a media release on Monday (Dec 17). The Supplementary Retirement Scheme is a voluntary scheme to encourage individuals to save for retirement, over and above their CPF savings. Similar to cash applications, the minimum application amount is S$500. The S$100,000 individual limit for SSB will be also doubled from S$100,000 to S$200,000. From Feb 1, each investor will be able to apply for up to S$200,000 of SSB, taking into account purchases using cash and SRS funds. "Since its launch in October 2015, the SSB programme has garnered approximately S$3.7 billion of investments from close to 100,000 individual investors. Facebook announced plans to resume political, electoral and social issue ads in the U.S. tomorrow, March 4, ending a temporary ban it put in place after the November 2020 — to avoid confusion and abuse amid claims by former President Donald Trump and his supporters that the election had been stolen. Singer-songwriter Josh Groban is set to hold his first concert in Southeast Asia here in Singapore on Feb 25, 2019. The multi-platinum, award-winning artist will be bringing his Bridges Tour – presented by Class 95, Singapore's No 1 radio station – to The Star Theatre with a full orchestra and choir. Groban will be performing songs from his latest album Bridges, as well his biggest hits such as You Raise Me Up, To Where You Are and You Are Loved. The 35-year-old performer has sold more than 30 million albums worldwide and is the only artist who has had two albums on Billboard’s list of 20 bestsellers in the last 10 years. Amy Winehouse will be touring the world next year in the form of a hologram, announced the late singer’s father Mitch Winehouse. The tour will start at the end of 2019 and will feature a live band and backing singers. Tour destinations have not been confirmed. “We experienced first-hand how these hologram shows celebrate great artists,” said Winehouse Sr. "This is a wonderful way to bring focus back to her musical legacy, as well as raising funds for the Amy Winehouse Foundation. It's time to remind everyone that Amy was one of the great musicians and performers." But not everyone is on board the hologram bandwagon.
