SUPPLIED Ford has increased its investment in Solid Power, a Denver-based company that is developing sulfide solid-state battery technology. Ford has raised its stake in a manufacturer of solid-state batteries – a move that its chief product and operations officer, Hau Thai-Tang, says will strengthen the company's effort to increase the range and reduce the costs of its next generation of electric vehicles. Ford, along with BMW, this week announced their investment in a US$130 million funding round for Solid Power, a Denver-based company that is developing sulfide solid-state battery technology. Thai-Tang says the technology should give Ford the flexibility to either shrink battery sizes to make it less expensive to manufacture some vehicles or keep the same size battery and achieve a greater range of distance in other models. Solid state batteries, with their solid ion-conducting material instead of the liquid electrolyte found in most lithium-ion batteries, can store … [Read more...] about Ford is betting that solid-state batteries will cut EV costs
What he does in the shadows. Photo: Sarah Silbiger/Bloomberg via Getty Images Less voluble, less gaffe-prone, more focused: In many ways, President Biden has been a very different political figure than the Joe Biden America has been familiar with for decades. I spoke with national correspondent Gabriel Debenedetti about Biden’s so-far successful communications strategy, and whether it can last. Ben : Our colleague Jonathan Chait wrote this of Joe Biden recently: “Biden’s advantage is that he’s not just nice; he’s also tedious. He is relentlessly enacting an ambitious domestic agenda … while arousing hardly any controversy. There’s nothing in Biden’s vanilla-ice-cream bromides for his critics to hook on to. Republicans can’t stop Biden because he is boring them to death.” This is true. It’s also true that, right now, many Republicans don’t even seem interested in going after Biden, or his policies. Instead, they’re focused on shoehorning whatever grievances they have … [Read more...] about Can Biden’s Low-Key Strategy Work Forever?
JAKE PAUL is eyeing a $100million Conor McGregor fight in 2022 and predicts it will sell THREE MILLION pay-per-views. Paul first called out the former two-weight UFC champion last December and claimed he had a $50m offer waiting to go. But disaster struck for McGregor, 32, as one month later he was beaten in two rounds by Dustin Poirier, also 32, on his return. Paul, 24, has since moved to 3-0 in his career and in April knocked out retired UFC welterweight Ben Askren in a fight he claimed sold 1.5m PPVs. With his stock higher than ever, the YouTuber believes he is in line for a 50/50 split with McGregor when predicting his earnings for the fight. In an exclusive interview with SunSport, Paul said: "Fifty million for sure. I think right now we're at the same level of draw in the combat sports world. "Doing the pay-per-view numbers that we just did, and I sort of carried that event on my back, when we went into that fight, Ben Askren had 500,000 followers. "No … [Read more...] about Jake Paul eyes $100m Conor McGregor fight in 2022 and predicts 3m PPV sales… making it third highest boxing match ever
