It's been more than a year since Microsoft support for Windows 7 officially ended back in January 2020. The end shouldn't have come as a surprise to Windows users: Microsoft promised 10 years of product support for Windows 7 when it was released in October 2009, before shifting focus to supporting newer technologies. That means Microsoft no longer offers technical assistance or software updates to your device, and the company has encouraged people to upgrade to Windows 10 to keep their PCs and laptops secure. A mum was left "disgusted" after her 10-year-old daughter was sent home-schooling work that included "inappropriately sexual" phrases. Annette Farrington, 27, from Fazakerley, Liverpool, was home-schooling her daughter when she noticed the worrying material. The English homework included phrases such as "She fondled", "I stroked", and "She felt his". Annette said: "She got the homework just before half-term but because there was so much we had some left over so we were doing it yesterday. "She was doing work on the Holocaust, and I think it had got mixed up with that. "When I was looking at it I thought that doesn't even make sense, why it would be there? "But after speaking to the school they said it was part of an English lesson giving examples to help kids make their own story." Microsoft has confirmed that its latest Windows 10 update, version 21H1, will arrive in the spring of this year, first in a tech community post Monday and in a more formal company blog post Wednesday . This follows Microsoft's usual pattern of rolling out two major Windows 10 updates per year, with this one following the latest October 2020 update . (If you're running Windows 7, you can still download Windows 10 free to get the latest updates.) While we can expect a few useful new features to arrive this spring, it seems likely that Microsoft is using this smaller update cycle to prepare for a larger Windows 10 UI update, reportedly codenamed Sun Valley , that will be part of Microsoft's renewed focus in Windows 10 that executives mentioned last year.
