Coexistence of carnivores suggests good biodiversity in region, researcher says Eight endangered wild animals under top State protection have been caught on camera in the Tibet autonomous region's Yarlung Zangbo Grand Canyon-the deepest canyon in the world-according to recently released research. Cameras placed in the canyon captured images of Bhutan takin, clouded leopards, large Indian civets, golden cats, jackals, Himalayan serow, Impeyan pheasants and red gorals. Supported by the National Forestry and Grassland Administration, the research on the region's biodiversity aims to collect information that will help in the design of a long-term protection plan. The research project, being conducted by two wildlife protection NGOs-the Shan Shui Conservation Center and Xizijiang Conservation Center-began in October and is still running. By: KDKA-TV News Staff HARRISBURG (KDKA) — The Pennsylvania Department of Health is reporting 5,730 new Coronavirus cases and 50 additional deaths. READ MORE: Former East Carnegie Volunteer Fire Department Chief Accused Of Theft Pleads Guilty This brings the statewide total to 1,087,792 cases and 25,522 total COVID-19 related deaths since the pandemic began. The state says a new lab began submitting data to the department on Tuesday. A total of 1,101 positive antigen tests ranging back to mid-January were uploaded, with 85% of those new cases in Allegheny County There are 2,541 people across the state in the hospital with COVID-19 and 530 patients are in ICUs. The state says 6,600,130 vaccine doses have been administered so far, and 2,488,948 people are fully vaccinated. The state Health Department has also announced that all Pennsylvanians will be eligible to schedule vaccination appointments by April 13. DOHA, Qatar The United States signed a peace agreement with Taliban militants on Saturday aimed at bringing an end to 18 years of bloodshed in Afghanistan that began after 9/11 and allowing U.S. troops to return home from America’s longest war. This historic deal, signed by chief negotiators from the two sides and witnessed by Secretary of State Mike Pompeo in the Qatari capital of Doha, could see the withdrawal of all American and allied forces in the next 14 months and allow President Donald Trump to fulfill a key campaign pledge to extract the U.S. from “endless wars.” It sets the stage for intra-Afghan peace talks to begin by March 10 during which a permanent ceasefire will be negotiated and the Taliban agree to meet with all factions.
