Home Four wheelers lekhaka-Athul z By Athul Z Updated: Friday, April 16, 2021, 20:36 [IST] Mercedes-Benz has finally taken the wraps off its Tesla Model S rival, the EQS and it is the EV equivalent of the S-Class. The EQS has been one of the most-awaited models in the electric vehicle market as it heralds the arrival of major premium car manufacturers in the high-end EV segment. The Mercedes-Benz EQS is the brand's first vehicle to use Mercedes-Benz's Electric Vehicle Architecture, a bespoke platform for EVs from Mercedes-Benz. This new bespoke platform will also underpin future EVs from Mercedes-Benz like the EQE, EQE SUV, and EQS SUV. The new Mercedes-Benz EQS will be manufactured alongside the S-Class in Sindelfingen, Germany. From the exterior, the new EQS remains largely similar to the EQS vision concept unveiled in 2019. The two angular headlights are quite striking to look at and are joined by a thin … [Read more...] about Mercedes-Benz EQS Luxury Electric Vehicle Revealed: The New Standard For Luxurious EVs?

EV Technology Goes into Hyperdrive with Mercedes-Benz EQS
Mercedes-Benz is calling on its long heritage of luxury to accelerate electric vehicle technology with the new EQS sedan. The premium automaker lifted the wraps off the long-awaited flagship EV during a digital event today . The focal point of the revolutionary vehicle is the MBUX Hyperscreen , a truly intuitive and personalized AI cockpit, powered by NVIDIA. The EQS is the first Mercedes-Benz to feature the “one bow” design, resembling a high-speed bullet train to increase efficiency as well as provide a quiet, comfortable interior experience. The cabin is further transformed by the MBUX Hyperscreen — a single, 55-inch surface extending from the cockpit to the passenger seat. It delivers both safety and convenience by displaying all necessary functions at once. Like the MBUX system recently unveiled with the new Mercedes-Benz S-Class , this extended-screen system runs on the high-performance, energy-efficient NVIDIA DRIVE platform for instantaneous AI processing and … [Read more...] about EV Technology Goes into Hyperdrive with Mercedes-Benz EQS
Mercedes sales in China help accelerate Daimler profit
FRANKFURT: Soaring Chinese demand for luxury Mercedes-Benz cars and higher prices drove a better-than-expected profit for Daimler in the first quarter, helping it navigate the coronavirus crisis. Mercedes-Benz sales in China hit 220,520 vehicles in the quarter, a rise of 60%, and outmatched the German carmaker's performance in Europe where they were up 1.8% to 192,302. "Favourable sales momentum at Mercedes-Benz Cars driven by all major regions, especially China, strongly supported the product mix and pricing in the first quarter," Daimler AG said in a statement on Friday. This reflected a quickening of China's economic recovery in the first quarter to record growth of 18.3% from last year's deep coronavirus slump. Unable to travel, wealthier Chinese consumers have used their disposable income to splash out on luxury items Chinese buyers also helped to turn around 2020 for Daimler, with sales rising in the second half of the year and offsetting weaker results in … [Read more...] about Mercedes sales in China help accelerate Daimler profit
Mercedes Teases Boxy EQB All-Electric Crossover For First Time
It arrives in the US in 2022. We know Mercedes is just getting started with its EQ lineup, which the company reinvigorated this week with the launch of the EQS. The new sedan will spawn a crossover version, as will the smaller EQE sedan, though there’s another crossover coming, too – the EQB. Spy shots have shown the compact crossover with little camouflage covering the fascias, though it looks like the company is ready to reveal it as we now have our first teaser. The crossover is cast in shadow, only showing the boxy proportions and front-end lighting signature, which is similar in design to the EQS’s. The lone teaser doesn’t reveal anything else, though the countless spy shots help fill in the gaps. There’s nothing too shocking about its conventional compact crossover design, though the company will fit three rows of seats and seating for seven inside the small footprint. It’ll be able to swallow up to 1,700 liters (60 cubic feet) of cargo, too. Gallery: … [Read more...] about Mercedes Teases Boxy EQB All-Electric Crossover For First Time
Mercedes goes all out with its new electric luxury sedan, the EQS
You can tell there should have been an international auto show this week by the flurry of new car announcements. These announcements have already included new battery electric vehicles from Mazda and Audi , as well as a little Hyundai truck that seems to have impressed many. Meanwhile, Mercedes-Benz has taken the wraps off an electric alternative to its mighty flagship S-Class. Actually, let me correct that—it's the first car from a new sub-brand, called Mercedes-EQ, and the car is called the EQS. And unlike the EQC crossover , this one is definitely going on sale here in the US. Do not mistake this car for an S-Class with a battery pack and some electric motors instead of an engine and transmission. Although the two cars share technology, the EQS uses a purpose-designed BEV architecture that we'll see in other, probably more modest Mercedes-EQs. Over in the conventionally powered world, the S-Class has for decades been the car to beat for the title of "World's Best," and the … [Read more...] about Mercedes goes all out with its new electric luxury sedan, the EQS
