Flu Has Virtually Disappeared In US During COVID Pandemic

NEW YORK (CBS/AP) — February is usually the peak of flu season, with doctors’ offices and hospitals packed with suffering patients. But not this year. Flu has virtually disappeared from the U.S., with reports coming in at far lower levels than anything seen in decades. READ MORE: Baker Tells Oversight Panel Examining Bumpy Vaccine Rollout Supply Is Biggest Issue Experts say that measures put in place to fend off the coronavirus — mask wearing, social distancing and virtual schooling — were a big factor in preventing a “twindemic” of flu and COVID-19. A push to get more people vaccinated against flu probably helped, too, as did fewer people traveling, they say. Another possible explanation: The coronavirus has essentially muscled aside flu and other bugs that are more common in the fall and winter. Scientists don’t fully understand the mechanism behind that, but it would be consistent with patterns seen when certain flu strains predominate over others, said Dr. Arnold Monto, a … [Read more...] about Flu Has Virtually Disappeared In US During COVID Pandemic

Real Madrid breaks Atalanta hearts with late goal after controversial red card

(CNN) In a match that was largely low on quality, it was a standout moment of brilliance that eventually gave Real Madrid a narrow 1-0 win over 10-man Atalanta in the Champions League round of 16. Full back Ferland Mendy broke the deadlock with only four minutes remaining with a delightful goal from outside the area, after Real had put Atalanta under relentless pressure following Remo Freuler's early sending off. Atalanta defended resolutely after going down to 10 men with only 17 minutes on the clock and limited Real to only a handful of half chances for the remainder of the match. However, Real's dominance eventually paid off as Mendy curled home a fabulous strike to give Zinedine Zidane's side a crucial away goal ahead of the return leg in Madrid on March 16. The Boys season 3 marks start of filming with new set photo

Well, well, well. If it isn’t the first look at The Boys season 3 courtesy of show creator Eric Kripke – though fans are divided on if the surprise package (emphasis on package, unfortunately) is that of Homelander or imminent new arrival Soldier Boy. Taking to Twitter, Kripke posted a shot from the set of The Boys season 3 in Toronto. Cameras, it seems, are set to start rolling. To mark the occasion, there’s a giant gold-plated statue of a Supe. We’re going to mark this one down as semi-NSFW given the, ahem, revealing angle. #TheBoys #Season3 #FirstPhoto #InProduction#TheBoysTV @TheBoysTV @PrimeVideo @SPTV #SPNFamily pic.twitter.com/S9aMSy5FF8 February 24, 2021 See more While the set shot gives off Homelander vibes thanks to the striking shoulder pads and American flag unfurled in the background, it’s looking more likely that the leader of the Seven isn’t immortalized here. Instead, it could be that of Soldier Boy, a new character arriving in the show … [Read more...] about The Boys season 3 marks start of filming with new set photo
