That rent is guaranteed to come to you each month without having to hit anybody up for it, without anybody missing a month,” Garcetti said. The future of Timaru’s on-demand bus service rests with ratepayer support and a decision on which budget option Environment Canterbury chooses. The public transport service, which has replaced most of the town's bus runs, appears to need Timaru District ratepayer support for a targeted rate to keep running after its trial period ends under one of two funding options the regional council will debate in its draft Long Term Plan in Christchurch on Thursday. The first option, which proposes rates to rise in some areas as high as 24 per cent , includes the retention of the MyWay service.
