New Zealand vs Australia, 3rd T20I: Agar and Maxwell keep visitors’ series hopes alive

Trailing 2-0 in the five-match series after a nail-biting defeat last time out in Dunedin, Australia produced an impressive response in the third T20I. Maxwell smashed 70 from 31 balls with captain Aaron Finch adding 69 as Australia posted 208-4 after losing the toss. Agar took 6-30 as New Zealand slumped to 144 all out in reply, setting up an intriguing fourth match on Friday (March 5). 1 49342 Spin bowler Agar is the first Australia player to record six wickets in a T20 match and only the fourth ever in international cricket. Australia are looking to avoid a third consecutive T20I series defeat following losses to England and India, while the hosts are seeking a third straight triumph. The clash on Wednesday went against that formbook, as well as the trend of this series so far, with Finch's 44-ball knock setting the tone. After Matthew Wade (5) fell early, the skipper - who had not registered a fifty in his previous 26 innings - put on stands of 83 with Josh Philippe … [Read more...] about New Zealand vs Australia, 3rd T20I: Agar and Maxwell keep visitors’ series hopes alive

India vs England 4th Test Pitch Report And First Look of Motera Surface: Batting Beauty or Rank Turner?

With all the talk around the pitch for the fourth and final Test at Ahmedabad, images of the strip that will be used for the 4th Test have emerged on social platforms on the eve of the match. As predicted, the pitch looks to be similar in nature to the one used for the third Test at the same venue a week back. It could be a similar story where the spinners start dominating the game from the first day. Surprisingly, there is a tinge of green on the strip. That patch of green could be shaved off on the morning of the Test. If it stays there, then it could be an interesting toss. The green on the strip could confuse the captains. Yet, it seems like the side winning the toss would like to have the first use of the pitch as it would be best on day one. As the game progresses the cracks could widen and it could make life hell for the batsmen. Here is the first look of the strip that would be used tomorrow: Final #pitchwatch before the fourth #INDvENG Test in #Ahmedabad … … [Read more...] about India vs England 4th Test Pitch Report And First Look of Motera Surface: Batting Beauty or Rank Turner?

India vs England 4th Test: ‘We Play to Win But Not to Play For Five Days’ – Virat Kohli on Ahmedabad Pitch

Amid all the talk around the Ahmedabad pitch after the tourists were steamrolled in under two days in the Pink-Ball Test, India skipper Virat Kohli – on the eve of the fourth and final Test – said that India plays to win and not to play for the entire duration of five days. “We play to win and people should be happy that we won and shouldn’t care about how long the match is lasting. You have to look at things objectively. I totally believe that too much noise is being made about spinning tracks,” Kohli said while addressing a virtual press conference ahead of the fourth and final Test against England, which starts on Thursday (March 4). Citing the example of the New Zealand tour in 2020, Kohli recalled that India did not complain – of how much the ball was moving and the amount of grass on the pitch – after losing a Test in three days. “We lost to New Zealand inside three days but no one commented how much the ball was moving or the amount of grass on the pitch. We have never … [Read more...] about India vs England 4th Test: ‘We Play to Win But Not to Play For Five Days’ – Virat Kohli on Ahmedabad Pitch

India vs England, 4th Test: Virat Kohli: ‘Winning is more important not the duration of Test’

"I do not understand why the cricket ball and pitch are brought into focus this often, it was about the batsmen not being skilled enough on that pitch to play properly. It was a bizarre display of batting from both teams. I have played this game long enough to understand what happens on the field. I would love if people ask me the question about home advantage when we are on a tour of Australia and England, not when you have seen two turning tracks," said Kohli during a virtual press conference. "I would like to ask a question? You play to win or you play to take the game five days and have some entertainment? We play to win, we don't play that everyone scores runs. We play to win, people should enjoy when India wins, it should not matter in how many days the match is finishing. In the previous games, runs have been scored, you cannot criticise based on one game. Unfortunately, we do not want to give any explanation, so this question is not relevant to me, our focus is to win." … [Read more...] about India vs England, 4th Test: Virat Kohli: ‘Winning is more important not the duration of Test’

India vs England: Not here to offer explanation, we play to win, says Virat Kohli

Ahmedabad : India skipper Virat Kohli on Wednesday said that he would not be giving any explanations on all the outside noise regarding the conditions on offer as he and his team play to win. He went on to add that for him, it was about the batsmen failing to put on a good show in the third Test at the Narendra Modi Stadium . "I do not understand why the cricket ball and pitch are brought into focus this often, it was about the batsmen not being skilled enough on that pitch to play properly. It was a bizarre display of batting from both teams. I have played this game long enough to understand what happens on the field. I would love if people ask me the question about home advantage when we are on a tour of Australia and England, not when you have seen two turning tracks," said Kohli during a virtual press conference on Thursday. "I would like to ask a question? You play to win or you play to take the game five days and have some entertainment?
