Adv. 2021 About 18,000 years ago, the inhabitants of Marsoulas Cave (now in France) tuned a sea snail shell into a wind instrument and used it during important social events and rituals. Musicologists and researchers worked together and have now reproduced the sound of the horn. “This seashell horn, with its unique sonority...sheds light on a musical dimension until now unknown in the context of Upper Paleolithic societies,” notes the paper. BSF detects another tunnel along Indo-Pakistan border in J&K, second in 10 days

New Delhi: The Border Security Force (BSF) on Saturday (January 23, 2021) detected yet another underground tunnel in Jammu and Kashmir's Kathua district. A spokesperson of the border force said, that the tunnel was constructed by Pakistan along the International Border (IB) to facilitate infiltration of terrorists into the J&K region . The tunnel was discovered during an anti-tunneling operation at the border outpost in Pansar area of Hiranagar sector . In a press statement the BSF said, "On specific intelligence inputs BSF detects another tunnel in the area of Pansar , Jammu in the series of anti tunneling drive in the wee hours of today (Saturday). The tunnel has been detected between BP number 14 and 15 . Pakistan BOPs are Abhiyal Dogra and Kingre-de-kothe (Distt Sakargarh). The tunnel is approx 150 Mtrs long and 30 Ft deep." Sir Tim Shadbolt says he refuses to be muzzled by city council, laments ‘sad day’ for freedom of speech

Invercargill Mayor Sir Tim Shadbolt says the decision of his city council’s elected members to effectively gag themselves when speaking to the media is a “sad day” for freedom of speech - and he won’t be co-operating. And Shadbolt says he will support any other city councillors who also do not conform. The council’s new media protocols, adopted by elected members on Tuesday, means they have agreed to focus on council issues and activities when speaking to the media, “rather than the actions or decisions of other elected members or staff”. The council decision was made following a tumultuous 2020 in which numerous elected members, including Shadbolt, publicly criticised each other on different issues. Sensex soars past 52K; Nifty tops 15,300

Equity benchmark Sensex rallied over 610 points to finish above the 52,000-mark for the first time on Monday, tracking significant gains in financial stocks amid a positive trend in global markets. After touching a record high of 52,235.97 during the day, the 30-share BSE index ended 609.83 points or 1.18 % up at 52,154.13. Similarly, the broader NSE Nifty soared 151.40 points or 1 % to finish at a record high of 15,314.70. It touched an intra-day peak of 15,340.15. Axis Bank was the top gainer in the Sensex pack, climbing around 6 %, followed by ICICI Bank, Bajaj Finance, SBI, IndusInd Bank, HDFC and Kotak Bank. On the other hand, Dr Reddy’s TCS, Tech Mahindra, HUL and Asian Paints were among the laggards.
