Alex Lopez Charged In Deadly Crash At End Of Chase In Fairfax District That Killed Jeeves Tangonan

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA) — A man is facing vehicular manslaughter, assault and DUI charges for allegedly ramming a sheriff’s car during a traffic stop and leading deputies on a pursuit that ended with a fiery crash in the Fairfax District that killed an innocent man who was on his way home from work. Alex Lopez, 28, pleaded not guilty Thursday to one count each of gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated, assault on a peace officer and fleeing a pursuing peace officer’s vehicle and two counts of DUI causing injury, according to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office. Riverside County Social Services Building In Lake Elsinore Damaged By Fire, Closed Until Further Notice

LAKE ELSINORE (CBSLA) — An early-morning fire has shut down the Riverside County Department of Public Social Services building in Lake Elsinore until further notice. A fire was reported on the second floor of the building, at 1400 Minthorn St., at about 3:45 a.m. Friday. Firefighters put out the fire, but there was extensive smoke and water damage to the building, according to Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department. The public was asked to avoid the building while repairs and inspections are underway. Senior district judge Ong Hian Sun to lead inquiry into fatal Tuas blast

SINGAPORE - A senior district judge has been appointed to lead the inquiry into the fatal Tuas explosion that killed three workers. Senior district judge Ong Hian Sun will chair the inquiry committee and be assisted by Mr Lucas Ng, general manager of plant, Petrochemical Corporation of Singapore, and Dr Peter Nagler, chief innovation officer at A*Star, the Ministry of Manpower (MOM) said in a statement on Friday (March 5). "The inquiry committee will look into and ascertain the causes and circumstances that led to the explosion and make recommendations to prevent the recurrence of such accidents," the ministry said. The dates and venue of the inquiry will be announced at a later date. Its proceedings will be held in open court. ‘QAnon Shaman’ Hasn’t Eaten In Days, Attorney Says In Motion For Release

An attorney for the so-called “QAnon Shaman” arrested for participating in the Capitol riots filed an emergency motion for his release Tuesday after finding he had not eaten for days, according to a court document. Attorney Al Watkins filed a emergency motion on Feb. 2 on behalf of Jacob Chansley, a self-described shaman, citing his client’s refusal to consume non-organic foods which has resulted in significant weight loss, KTVI FOX 2 reported . The defense team’s court filing claims Chansley has lost more than 20 pounds within a week. United States District Judge for the District of Columbia Royce C. Lamberth granted Chansley’s request for organic-food Wednesday afternoon following the filing of Watkins’ motion, Law & Crime reported . Jo Ann Nixon , an attorney at Glenda M. August and Associates in New Iberia, has been reappointed to the State Civil Service Commission by Gov. John Bel Edwards. Nixon was nominated by the president of Dillard University, Dr. Walter M. Kimbrough, to represent the 3rd Congressional District. The seven-member State Civil Service Commission has final authority over the administration of the State Civil Service system. Six of the commission members are appointed by the governor; the seventh is an employee representative elected by fellow state employees. Each member serves a six-year term. Other members of the commission are David Duplantier, chairman, Loyola University; D. Scott Hughes, vice chairman, Centenary College; John McLure, Louisiana College; G.
