New Jersey Republican governor and likely 2016 presidential candidate Chris Christie had just wrapped up his morning workout on Wednesday when he got a call that plunged him into the biggest scandal of his career. Some of his staffers and his appointees at the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey had decided in September to give the Democratic mayor of Fort Lee, N.J., the week from hell — and now the world knew. Emails from a Christie aide to an official at the Port Authority show they orchestrated a massive four-day traffic jam in Fort Lee all because the borough's mayor, Mark Sokolich, refused to support the governor's reelection bid. Christie has repeatedly denied his staff had any involvement in the scandal, and although he still says he had no idea, the governor has now changed his tone, saying he was misled and is appalled by the behavior. SINGAPORE: A psychology undergraduate at the Nanyang Technological University (NTU) was sentenced on Wednesday (Sep 23) to nine months and three weeks' jail for taking 469 illicit videos of 335 women . Shaun Ho Yan Liang, 26, pleaded guilty last week to two charges of insulting a woman's modesty and one charge of possessing obscene films. A fourth charge was taken into consideration. He admitted taking the clips between February 2018 and July 2018 at locations including Eastpoint Mall, an overhead bridge at the North Spine of NTU, the student activity centre at NTU and a laboratory at the National Institute of Education. He targeted women who wore shorts or skirts, and would either squat or stand close to them to film the videos. On several occasions, he followed the victims for a period of time. SINGAPORE: Over about four-and-a-half months, a psychology undergraduate at the Nanyang Technological University (NTU) took 469 illicit videos of 335 women, including victims at the North Spine of the university. Shaun Ho Yan Liang, 26, pleaded guilty on Wednesday (Sep 16) to two charges of insulting a woman's modesty and a charge under the Films Act, with a fourth charge taken into consideration. He was nabbed only when a boyfriend of one of the victims caught Ho in the act and detained him. Ho had followed the victim at a supermarket at Eastpoint Mall on the night of Jul 22, 2018, when the victim noticed him pacing around. She told her boyfriend about this and they continued to observe him, until the boyfriend saw Ho's handphone pointed under his girlfriend's shirt. He detained Ho immediately and reported the incident to the store's security officer, who lodged a police report. Police found 10 videos of the victim on his phone. GULF SHORES, Alabama: Hurricane Sally uprooted trees, flooded streets and cut power to hundreds of thousands of homes and businesses on Wednesday as it brought what the US National Hurricane Center called "historic and catastrophic" flooding to the Alabama-Florida coast. Sally, which made landfall early Wednesday near Gulf Shores, Alabama, as a Category 2 storm, was donwgraded in the afternoon to a tropical storm as maximum sustained winds dropped to 113 kilometres per hour. Some parts of the Gulf Coast had been inundated with more than 46cm of rain over the previous 24 hours, with more precipitation expected even as the storm's winds slow further, the National Hurricane Center (NHC) said.
