HYDERABAD : With the onset of summer, several residents in the city have started facing the heat of power cuts for varied durations. As the Telangana State Southern Power Distribution Company Limited (TSSPDCL) saw an 8% rise in power consumption in the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) limits over the last one month, power cuts in few areas have left residents sweating. With mercury levels inching closer to the 40 degree Celsius mark, residents are sweating it out with power cuts becoming a regular affair in areas such as Old City, Alkapur Township, Somajiguda and Manikonda, to name a few. Video Player Close BEIJING, March 4 (Xinhua) -- China resolved the drinking-water safety problems for its entire impoverished population during the 13th Five-Year Plan (2016-2020) period, with tap-water coverage in China's rural areas reaching 83 percent, the Ministry of Water Resources (MWR) said on Thursday. A total of 118 poverty-alleviation projects relating to water and power supplies were established in rural areas over the same period, according to the MWR. Over the last five years, the water-conservation tasks in irrigated areas highlighted in the five-year plan were basically completed, the ministry said, noting that the goal of increasing the efficiency of irrigation water use to 0.55 has been realized earlier than planned. Small-sized hydropower plants in the Yangtze River Economic Belt have been reorganized, with 616 small, green hydropower stations built so far, said the MWR. Now however, there is a new turbo-petrol which promises improved performance. So what is it like? On paper it certainly delivers. Power is bumped up to 110hp while torque has risen from 113Nm to 140Nm. Coming to its performance, there is good news and bad. The good bit is that the extra power is certainly apparent — the car no longer feels underpowered. Demand more, however, and it will leave you wanting. The trouble is that, while performance is an improvement over the naturally aspirated unit, it is still not as strong as some other small displacement turbo-petrols.
