Plus a 200-pound diet and a new 2.0-liter turbo engine. The unconventional look of the Jeep Cherokee caused quite a stir when it was revealed at the 2013 New York Auto Show. As in, a lot of critics hated the way it looked. “It was very progressive, modern,” admits Mike Manley, Head of the Jeep brand. “But we needed to do that to break through the segment.” With a tiered lighting arrangement and a pointy grille that were not at all like any contemporary Jeep, the Cherokee certainly stood out. But that was the intention: make an impact as Jeep returned with a vengeance to the segment dominated by names like CR-V and RAV4. The strategy worked, with the Cherokee selling well and nobody mentioning the “weird” styling ever again. “It did what it was supposed to do, it called attention to the vehicle,” says Mark Allen, Head of Jeep design. But when it was time to develop the refreshed 2019 Cherokee , he was asked to significantly tamp down on the crossover’s boldness – … [Read more...] about 2019 Jeep Cherokee Gets A More Traditional Face, Roomier Interior

It would be a Friday, mid-afternoon, and Wilson would be road-tripping to see his quarterback tutor, John Beck, in southern California. On these trips, Wilson alternated between podcasts and an audiobook. (Steve Young’s lessons of the benefits of adversity in “ QB: My Life Behind the Spiral ” resonated strongly.) Wilson put his body on mind-clearing autopilot, driving through southwest Utah, skirting through 28 miles of northwest Arizona, then into the Pacific Time Zone, through the Vegas sprawl in southern Nevada, into the High Desert of southeastern California, into the SoCal ‘burbs and crashing at the home of … [Read more...] about FMIA: New Insight On NFL’s 17-Game Schedule. How Moderna execs are cashing in on COVID-19 vaccine stock speculation
REUTERS: Biotech firm Moderna Inc could reap tens of billions of dollars in sales and stock appreciation if it wins the race for a COVID-19 vaccine. If it loses, the early-stage company’s value could crash. In the meantime, the firm’s chief executive is pocketing millions of dollars every month by selling shares that have tripled in price on news of Moderna’s development progress, a Reuters analysis of corporate filings shows. The sales - by CEO Stéphane Bancel, his childrens’ trust and companies he owns - amount to about US$21 million between January 1 and June 26, including US$6 million in May. The company’s chief medical officer, Tal Zaks, has cashed out the majority of his available stock and options, netting over US$35 million since January, the filings show. The lucrative liquidations highlight the unusually powerful incentives for biotech executives to highlight development milestones for drugs that often never get approved or sold, according to interviews with seven … [Read more...] about How Moderna execs are cashing in on COVID-19 vaccine stock speculation
