Bundesliga set to get lower price for domestic TV rights

MUNICH: Germany's Bundesliga will on Monday award domestic broadcast rights for the four seasons from 2021-22, with the value likely to decline from the previous agreement. Pay TV broadcaster Sky, owned by U.S. group Comcast Corp, is expected to remain the main client, with sports streaming service DAZN also picking up the rights to a large number of matches, according to sources close to the matter. Amazon, which has streamed some Bundesliga matches after the season resumed behind closed doors, is not believed to have played a major role in the bidding. The contracts will be closely watched as they are the first major soccer rights auction to be completed since the novel coronavirus disrupted action in Europe's top leagues. The current four-year deal, which runs until the end of next season, was worth 4.64 billion euros (4.2 billion pounds), an 85per cent jump from the previous agreement. It covers TV, radio and online rights to matches played by the 36 clubs in the top two … [Read more...] about Bundesliga set to get lower price for domestic TV rights

What does TV food really taste like? We tried baking Phoebe’s cookies from Friends

Hands up if you've ever found yourself wondering what the food in the movies and on TV actually tastes like. For a movie and TV addict like this writer loaded with extra stay-home time, binge-watching during a global pandemic has turned into a dangerously ravenous affair. On a nightly basis. Armed with the quest to satiate constant and ridiculous cravings of on-screen food, one only needed to look to the Internet for answers – which pointed me in the direction of YouTuber, filmmaker and self-proclaimed "wannabe chef" Andrew Rea of the rousing online series Binging with Babish. Named after the West Wing character Oliver Babish, Rea tries to recreate dishes seen in your favourite movies and TV shows as closely as possible to the original, be they animated or live-action. Inspired and motivated, I decided to do the same one day – because if this "tabao" queen who failed secondary school Home Economics class can do it, so can you. After all, there’s no reason to fear the … [Read more...] about What does TV food really taste like? We tried baking Phoebe’s cookies from Friends

World champs for short track, Nordic skiing lead winter sports TV, stream schedule

World championships in Nordic skiing, short track speed skating and Alpine snowboarding highlight winter sports competition on NBC Sports, Olympic Channel and Peacock Premium this week. Jessie Diggins takes aim at cross-country medals on Tuesday in her best individual event, the 10km freestyle, and in Thursday’s relay in Oberstdorf, Germany. Diggins, who in 2018 teamed with since-retired Kikkan Randall to win the U.S.’ first Olympic cross-country skiing title, can become the first American to win an individual world title. The U.S. has never earned an Olympic or world medal of any color in a men’s or women’s relay. Short track holds its first top-level competition in more than one year. The coronavirus pandemic wiped out last year’s world championships and this past season’s World Cup circuit. This week’s worlds will lack traditional powers South Korea and China, plus Japan as well as Canada’s top female skater, Kim Boutin . In their absences, the U.S. could earn its … [Read more...] about World champs for short track, Nordic skiing lead winter sports TV, stream schedule

FMIA: New Insight On NFL’s 17-Game Schedule. Plus The Story Of One QB’s Quick (Door) Dash To Top 5 Prospect

Share this: Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to email this to a friend (Opens in new window) Click to print (Opens in new window) On many weekends late last spring and early summer, with his football future very much in doubt, Brigham Young quarterback Zach Wilson pulled his Mazda 6 onto an I-15 on-ramp in Provo, Utah. It would be a Friday, mid-afternoon, and Wilson would be road-tripping to see his quarterback tutor, John Beck, in southern California. On these trips, Wilson alternated between podcasts and an audiobook. (Steve Young’s lessons of the benefits of adversity in “ QB: My Life Behind the Spiral ” resonated strongly.) Wilson put his body on mind-clearing autopilot, driving through southwest Utah, skirting through 28 miles of northwest Arizona, then into the Pacific Time Zone, through the Vegas sprawl in southern Nevada, into the High Desert of southeastern California, into the SoCal ‘burbs and crashing at the home of … [Read more...] about FMIA: New Insight On NFL’s 17-Game Schedule.
