Move follows proposed bed increase at Sassoon without hiked manpower; emergency services to continue Resident doctors of the BJ Medical College (BJMC) serving their residency at the Sassoon General Hospitals have withdrawn from non-emergency duties with effect from 5 pm on Friday, after complaining over a month regarding a proposal to soon increase the number of beds at Sassoon hospital without recruitment of additional doctors. There has been no positive response from the dean on the matter, the doctors have said. The resident doctors had sent several requests, applications and letters to the Sassoon administration bringing to fore the issue wherein they are putting in efforts way beyond their capacity during the ongoing pandemic. In a letter sent to the dean on April 15, they opposed the increase in beds, before recruitment of additional doctors.
