YouTube in 2007 was the Wild West of freak comedy. Offbeat humor, celebrated through cheaply produced and easily distributed clips, dominated the young video-hosting platform, founded two years prior. Catchy songs about shoe shopping and trippy animations starring sleepy unicorns were elevated to the “Featured Videos” section of the site, the breeding ground for niche humor hits like “ Chocolate Rain ” and “ Charlie Bit My Finger .” At that point, 19-year-old Chris Crocker was living with his grandparents in Tennessee, a difficult existence for a gay teen who started getting home-schooled after eighth grade because of incessant bullying. On a sunny Saturday in February, two policemen on a motorcycle stop Jhon Jairo “Popeye” Velásquez as he walks down the driveway of a dilapidated mansion near Medellin, Colombia. The estate belonged to a former associate of late drug kingpin Pablo Escobar, who was killed in 1993, reportedly by Colombian police aided by U.S. Special Forces .. Velásquez, who worked for Escobar, is giving a tour of his old mob hangouts and discussing his future in film and politics. The beat cops aren’t here to arrest him. “We’re intrigued by him,” says the more boyish of the patrolmen, who was born the year Escobar was killed. “It’s really cool to hear the story.” If the officer had been born 20 years earlier, he might have been one of over 500 policemen Velásquez and other assassins from Escobar’s Medellín Cartel murdered in a bloody war against the Colombian government. Next Hotel.com's latest survey lists out the top ten destinations Indians have been travelling to. Have YOU been to these places yet? A recent Hotel.com survey has shed light on travelling habits of Indians. The survey revealed that more Indians chose to travel around their neighbourhood for work and pleasure rather than travel to Europe and America. Five out of the top ten destinations in the list are South East Asian. According to the survey Hong Kong slipped to the fourth position while Singapore topped the chart largely because of the new luxury hotel offerings like the Marina Bay Sands, followed by Bangkok.
