Mike Edmonson retired amid a controversy involving a group of troopers who charged overtime and took an expensive detour while driving to an out-of-state conference. The interim superintendent, Col. Kevin Reeves, remains the undisputed front-runner to succeed Edmonson, according to several sources familiar with the selection process.
