Hyderabad: The President of India, Ram Nath Kovind, accepted the resignation tendered by Dr. Mohammed Aslam Parvaiz as vice-chancellor of the Maulana Azad National Urdu University. University sources said Parvaiz’s resignation had nothing to do with the agitations related to CAA, NRC and NPR. “His resignation was pending for a long time. It was purely due to personal reasons,” a source said. Parvaiz had tendered resignations on October 31 last year and once again on January 22 this year. Union HRD ministry under-secretary SK Biswan communicated about the President’s acceptance of the resignation to the MANUU registrar. Pervaiz would be relieved on February 28. Students protest CAA, NRC, NPR MANUU students have been protesting against the CAA, NRC and NPR. On Monday night, they held a protest denouncing the Delhi police’s action. It may be mentioned that MANUU Chancellor Firoz Bakth Ahmed became controversial for issuing a statement defending the CAA. Students staged protests against his statement while the teaching and non-teaching staff also took exception.
